In the year 1952 the Bhudan movement stated off in Bihar and by 1954 it gathered substantial momentum. It was during this period that the personal Secretary of Acharya Binoba , Sri Damodar Das Mundra visited the villages of Dumaria and Imamganj Blocks of Gaya district. He noted the pitiable conditions of the poor inhabiting the area and was greatly moved to see their sufferings. He also expressed his desire to start some rural reconstruction work to ameliorate the sufferings of the poor in the area Sri Umesh Chandra Trivedi and thus on 11th September 1954, the birth day of Acharya  Vinoba Bhave, the organization was started to carry out works related to Bhudan and Bhudani farmers. However, It was formally registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in 11th September 1978; and Foreign Contribution regulation Act (FCRA) of Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India in the year 24th January 1985. At present Mr. Om Satyam Trivedi is a secretary of the organization-dated 11.8.1996. The Name of Samanvay Tirth was conceived of as generating community participation and action –building activities at grass-root level. The organization is rooted in Gandhian   thought that development can only take place when the rural masses are mobilized to take active part in their own development in keeping with this view. Samanvay Tirth has sought to concentrate on the empowerment of the rural masses, especially women in the village as it believes that women are the strongest harbinger of social change and through them the other sections of the rural community can be reached.
